The mobile legal help center provides free civil legal services for tenant concerns, benefits issues, immigration, divorce and custody, domestic violence, debt management, and more.

On April 9th I’ll be co-hosting an energy efficiency workshop with the New York Power Authority at the Sunset Park Library. Constituents are invited to sign up to learn more about making your home more energy efficient and receive a free energy conservation kit while supplies last.

“Out of the Shadows” provides a panoramic view of the Black Power movement and explains how it emerged, grew and changed over time.
The screening, in honor of Black History Month, will be accompanied by remarks from Lanessa Owens-Chaplin, Director of the Racial Justice Center at the New York Civil Liberties Union.
This presentation provides a comprehensive look at the financial realities of higher education—from how to fund college to the evolving landscape of the student debt repayment system. We'll examine the role of federal, state and private funding sources, including FAFSA, TAP and Excelsior, the implications of new borrowing limits, and how recent legislative changes, including the latest budget bill, are reshaping the student loan system.
Additionally, we'll explore practical strategies for managing existing student debt, including repayment plans, forgiveness and discharge programs. Bring your questions and we'll answer them during the live Q&A.

As for e-waste, the Lower East Side Ecology Center does not accept batteries, but they take almost everything else! Check their list here.
