Scheduler
The office of New York State Senator Andrew Gounardes has an immediate opening for the role of Scheduler.
Full Scheduling/Advance work - act as gatekeeper to Senator’s time and availability
Briefing management - structuring, editing, maintaining staff deadlines for briefings and memos, assisting as needed
Constituent services/casework and support community liaisons in their casework
Maintain relationships with schedulers in other local elected offices to coordinate events and share calendar info (as approved by Chief of Staff)
Attend virtual and in-person community meetings and events on behalf of the Senator and office
Continue to provide additional, general support for Senator and Chief of Staff in whatever area is needed (i.e. lighten workloads, build new systems, etc.)
To be successful in this role a candidate should have strong communications, operations, and interpersonal skills. Candidates should have an interest in public service, an understanding of government and public policy, and an ability to think creatively.
Understanding of Senate District 26, and proficiency in a second language strongly preferred.
Salary
Salary starts at $50,000 depending on experience. The position comes with an excellent benefits package including health, dental, optical, and retirement benefits.

Part-Time Community Liaison
New York State Senator Andrew Gounardes (D-SD26) has an immediate opening for a Part Time Community Liaison based in his district office. Strong interpersonal/communications skills, Spanish fluency, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and capacity to work on/undertake multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously are a must. The selected candidate will work closely with senior members of the Senator’s district office, as well as senior staff of other elected officials and organizations.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Handling constituent cases and following up with appropriate agencies to see case through
Act as a liaison and go to person between members of the community, city agencies and the Senator
Attend community meetings and events to provide information about and promote the Senator’s initiatives to address issues and concerns
Help plan and attend community events, cultural celebrations and other happenings in the district
Remain current on the Senator’s legislative and policy agenda and serve as a resource regarding those issues for the local community and colleagues
Other duties as assigned by the Senator and senior staff
The ideal candidate will also be willing to take on ad hoc responsibilities and projects as they arise. Fluency in speaking and writing Spanish is required.
Salary
Salary range starts at $30,000 per year at a rate of 17.5 hours a week . The positions come with an excellent benefits package including health, dental, optical, and retirement benefits.
