Sen. Gounardes Joins Joey Bada$$, Lameka Fox, Advocates to Rally for the CREEP Act
Bill would follow the lead of 43 other states in letting civil courts give stalking survivors faster, more accessible protection
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: APRIL 30, 2026
WHAT: New York State Senator Andrew Gounardes and Assembly Member Jessica González-Rojas will join rapper Joey Bada$$, model-activist Lameka Fox, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, survivors, and advocates to call for the passage of the CREEP Act in this year’s legislative session.
The Ceasing Repeated and Extremely Egregious Predatory (CREEP) Behavior Act (S.3394A) would follow the lead of 43 other states in allowing civil courts to issue anti-stalking orders and give stalking victims a faster, more accessible path to protection.
New York is one of the only seven states that limit these orders to criminal and family courts. Under the bill, victims could obtain an immediate, limited order for quick relief, with the option for a broader final order after a complete hearing.
The bill has already passed in the State Senate but remains in committee in the State Assembly. At the press conference, speakers will call on the Assembly to pass the bill to protect victims of stalking across New York State.
WHEN: Thursday, April 30th at 11:00AM
WHERE: Steps outside Brooklyn Borough Hall, 209 Joralemon Street, Brooklyn, New York 11201
WHO: State Senator Andrew Gounardes, Assembly Member Jessica González-Rojas, Assembly Member George Alvarez, Joey Bada$$, Lameka Fox, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, CA Goldberg, Safe Horizon, advocates, survivors
VISUAL: Speakers standing at a podium on outdoor steps, with some holding signs.
